So I’m out in Seattle for a couple of days (at least I’ve been here a couple of days) and SEARS came out to troubleshoot my outrageously expensive and non functioning Washing machine.  the verdict,

Without a service contract, I can expect that Sears will be a long term tenant in my house because the outrageously expensive Calypso High Efficiency washing machine that we have apparently has some engineering flaws.  As such, we can count on it failing an average of every 2-3 years to the tune of about $200 a pop.  So, really, whats the point of HE washing machines?  If anyone knows, I would love to hear it.  From my perspective, there’s no way that it can possibly be worthwhile because you can’t put enough detergent in it to clean your clothes and systems like the Calypso are apparently so fragile that it just realistically is not worth it.  So the result is that my wife went out while I was away and bought a base line, no bells and whistles Maytag because it won’t break nearly as often and when it does it won’t be expensive (just put paperclip here around rubber band there).
